Mind of my Mind - Book Review

In Mind of my Mind, we are sent three centuries into the future. Doro still experimenting with his children to accomplish a goal and Anyanwu, now calling herself Emma, still helping him. He places a young girl, Mary, in her care next door to make sure she survives since she’s possibly the key to achieving his goal. Years later, Mary is now 20 and Doro announces to her that she’s going to get married to another telepath that will help her through her transition. But once she transitions, she creates something that Doro never imagined could happen. Mary created a pattern, linking 6 actives to herself and calling them to her. She soon learns more about this power and uses it to create what Doro had always wanted.

The intrigue of the story picked up fast enough to quickly get me interested in the story. I was very curious to see how Karl and Mary would get along as usualy two actives can’t stand each other. I was also curious to know what Mary was going to be once she transitioned since Doro seemed to be saying she was a new kind of telepath. Once she transitioned, the story just got more and more interesting. I was a bit frustrated at first at how Mary was acting around the actives she had linked to herself, but her actions fit with her character.

There were so many characters to follow in this book. We weren’t just reading Emma’s or Doro’s point of views. We were reading Mary’s, Karl’s, and all the other 5 actives Mary had linked to herself. We were mostly following Doro and Mary, but we got some glimpses here and there of her actives to learn more about them and read their opinions of what was happening to them.

This book definitely deserves a 4 out of 5 from me. I found the story way more interesting than the first book and there were so many characters that you couldn’t get tired of reading one point of view since you jumped around a lot. Jumping so much from one point of view to another could be tiresome in certain books, but this one executed it so well that it just felt natural reading the story that way.
