OwlCrate - November Box

November's theme was The Dark Heart of the Forest. The book description surprisingly gave hints of a spooky book again!

"Our November book features monsters and mayhem in a forest where nothing appears as it seems. Atmospheric and spooky, this book is the perfect autumn read for those who love wicked schemes and wild woods!"

I was surprised they weren't going for a more christmas holiday theme already, but I'm still glad I get to have another spooky book for my collection! Now I have three in a new genre that I've never read! I'm so excited to dive into them, hopefully next year!

Let's have a look at what the box contained:

  • The next edition of their Middle Earth ceramic bowl collection. This time, with a design inspired by Gondor and designed by Janine Lecour

  • A reading planner designed by Tes medovich (@paperbackbones)

  • A leaf-shaped soap dish designed by @azura.arts and inspired by The Bear and the Nightingale

  • A reusable hand warmer with quotes from Lakesedge and Among the Beasts and Briars, designed by Lively Ghosts

  • A wheat straw travel case with a bamboo toothbrush inside designed by Brio and Brandish, inspired by The Raven Cycle

  • This month's literary luggage enamel pin features the blood forest from From Blood and Ash and it was designed by Hey Atlas Creative

  • Finally, this month's book is The Luminaries by Susan Dennard

The ceramic bowl is so beautiful! I am in love with it. Also, the hand warmer is REUSABLE?! I'm not very knowledgeable about hand warmers, but I thought they were single use! And to top it off, the pin is the fricken BLOOD FOREST!! I was so excited when I got it out of its package! It is simply beautiful.

Next month's theme is Star-Crossed. With a theme like that, the book HAS to contain a star-crossed lovers trope. I don wonder, though, what the items could be with this theme. Not a very easy theme to design I think. It also mentions horror again. I'm very intrigued! Here's the book's description:

"What would you do for true love? Torn between years of village tradition and the mysterious stranger who suddenly appears in her life, our December book follows our heroine as she makes difficult choices. If you love fantasy folk horror and forbidden romance, then this book is for you!"

You can find more information on what will be in the box in this community blog post.
