The Greatest Showman - Movie Review

The Greatest Showman is about P.T. Barnum, the child of a tailor. Dreaming of a better life, Barnum takes the opportunity to get a loan and buy a museum after the company he worked for bankrups. He turns the museum into a circus with "freak" performers.

I loved this story so much! There were so many messages and they were all delivered beautifuly. First, you have the message of you can be whoever you want to be when you set your mind to it. There's also the more obvious message of accepting everybody no matter their physical differences. And finaly, sometimes you need to be satisfied with what you've got. I loved seeing him get more and more popular and his rise to the top, but I knew something had to go wrong because he was succeeding way too fast. I suspected he would shoot too high and hit a wall at some point. It was a classic case of a woman from a rich family just wanting a simple life while the husband, who grew up poor, always wanted more.

The movie did a really good job of making me hate him just at the right moment. When he started trying to hide his crew because he wanted to be part of the elite, I really really hated his guts. It also broke my heart seeing his little girls running after his carriage when he left on tour with Jenny. I found it a bit annoying how easily his crew and his wife forgave him, but I get that they couldn't drag it too much because of the time. The songs were also all amazing. Every last one of them had me bopping my head with chills down my arms. I loved how they started off the movie super strong with him singing "The Greatest Show", but it was just him imagining it when he was a child. Then they ended with him actually singing it as an adult. Brought me to tears!

I was a bit scared going into this movie because I had heard so many good things, so I was scared of being disappointed. I'm super happy to report that I was not! It was a really good movie! I was not expecting there to be so many songs, but they were all so good and so well linked to the story that they didn't exactly stop the plot from moving along. I give this one a big 5 out of 5!
