Season 1 follows Davion, a Dragon Knight who hates dragons for killing his whole family when he was a boy. After an encounter with the demon Terrorblade, he is forced to become the ally of the Elderwyrms and shares his body with Slyrak, one of the Eight Great Dragons. With Slyrak using Davion as a host, Davion sometimes transforms into a mix between a man and a dragon when he gets mad or when his life is in danger. Sometimes, Slyrak even takes complete control over Davion's body and transforms into his dragon self. Davion meets Princess Mirana and Marci and decides to team up with them to get to the Invoker's tower; Mirana wishes to find her goddess's lotuses that were stolen, while Davion wishes to learn what's happening to him.
In season 2, Mirana and Davion are separated. Davion gets captured by the Dragon Knights, while Mirana and her remaining troops are captured and brougt to Mirana's birthplace. Mirana's uncle wishes to make a union with her to regain the trust of the population, while Mirana accepts so she can use the army to help fight off the elves. Meanwhile, Davion learns more about why Slyrak is inside of him and what needs to be done to stop Terrorblade. His quest leads him to where Mirana is, and they both end up having to fight off a Void Dragon .
I knew Dota: Dragon's Blood was based off of the video game, but I had no knowledge of the story so I went it completely blind and was plesantly impressed. I really enjoyed the story so far. The guy that hates dragons suddenly being the host of one and transforming into one from time to time. Forcing him to team up with them to defeat a greater evil, thus learning more about the creatures he hates and slowly not hating them so much. I've also been enjoying Mirana's story and seeing her slowly learn that her beloved goddess, Selemene, isn't so good afterall. I'm also really intrigued at what will happen with Fymryn, the Elven girl who stole the lotuses to fulfill a prophecy to bring back their Moon goddess, Mene.
I give this series so far a 5 out of 5 and I can't wait to dive into Season 3 (or Book 3 as they call them) now that it's out!
