Emily in Paris - Season 2 Review

The second season of Emily in Paris starts with Emily's new romance being immediately shut down after he learns she had an affair after agreeing to go to St-Tropez with him. When she comes back from the impromptu girls trip, she spends her time trying to get Camille and Gabriel back together to feel less guilty about sleeping with him when she thought he was leaving. Unfortunately for her, Camille finds out they slept together and stops talking to them. After a while, Camille makes a pact with Emily that none of them would date Gabriel and they all become friends again. The rest of the season is Emily starting a relationship with Alfie, an english guy that's in Paris for work, and her trying to please Madeline.

This season's plot was a bit frustrating. There was so much going on at the same time, but also nothing going on. Emily was busy trying to get Camille back with Gabriel, then trying to get Camille to forgive her and finally was trying to not make it seem awkward when Alfie and Gabriel were in the same room. At the same time, she was trying to help with so many contracts at work, then going around learning about Sylvie's past and finally trying to please Madeline while trying to convince her Sylvie was good for Savoir. But, like Mindy said at the end, she was so busy trying to please everyone that she lost everything. In the end, she sort of lost her job, Alfie went back to England (although they didn't break up, they also didn't really make plans to do the long distance thing) and Camille double-crossed her and moved in with Gabriel.

Even though how Emily acted this season really made me mad, I'm hoping for a better season 3. With what happened in the end and with the look she gave, I really hope we'll get more of evil Emily. I want her to take Sylvie's offer to join her new marketing company and stick it to Madeline who's been treating her like an assistant. I want her to go after Gabriel with no regards to Camille's feelings. I want her to go for what she wants instead of trying to please everybody. They've made such a point of showing us how she basically sacrifices her happiness to make others happy. They even had Mindy spell it out for us. I hope it means they'll make her go after what she wants in season 3.

All in all, I sadly give this season a 3 out of 5 stars.
