The Locke family, having lost their father/husband, move into Keyhouse to have a fresh start. Bode, the youngest, investigates a locked wellhouse on the property and hears a woman's voice. She introduces herself as Echo and tells him about magical keys hidden in the house and what they do. She says he can find them by listening for their whispers. He starts finding them and tries to tell his family, but no one believes him. After accidentally freeing Echo, he finds out she's actually evil and wants the keys for herself. After some convincing, Bode's brother and sister finally believe him and they start holding onto keys themselves to make it harder for Echo to get them. From there, intrigue and adventure ensues.
I thought it was a very interesting plot. It feels very unique in a time where so many movies are about superheroes. I was pleasantly surprised at the mystery behind the keys and discovering what happened in the past and who Echo really is. I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out before they're revealed, but this show hid its secrets really well.
A lot of the time Bode, Tyler and Kinsey would do something extremely stupid. Some things seemed like an obvious bad idea and they would do it anyway, or they would get into a trap that seemed super obvious. When I started getting mad at them for doing such stupid things, I had to remind myself that they're just a kid and teenagers. Of course they're going to act stupid at times. At least the mistakes they made fit with their character's personality so once I reminded myself of their age it didn't feel so out of place.
I definitely recommend watching this show. 5 out of 5 from me. I did also find out it's based on a comic book, so I'll try to check that out in the future.
